MISSION
The mission of the EJ Henderson Youth Foundation (EJHYF) is to provide opportunity and encouragement to urban youth through academic, life skills and athletic programs developing each student in mind, body and soul. Our goal is to provide youth with the skills to become responsible members of their communities and find success in their futures.
OUR FOUNDER
The EJ Henderson Youth Foundation was formed in June of 2007 as the vision of star Vikings Linebacker and defensive captain, E.J. Henderson. Mr. Henderson has a passion for working with youth and created his foundation to provide opportunity for urban youth through academic, life skills and athletic programming. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Criminal Justice and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 40th overall choice in the 2003 NFL Draft. In 2009, Mr. Henderson received the Ed Block Courage Award for his comeback from a 2008 season ending injury. He was also named the 2009 Minnesota Vikings Community Man of the Year for his commitment to the community. In addition to his own foundation, he has volunteered his time with a variety of local organizations include the United Way, Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities, ARC of the Twin Cities, Minneapolis Park and Recreation and the Police Athletic League.
